Glory
Or something like it.
It took me 8 years and three months to finally get this from my memories to a canvas. I had a vision years ago while sitting in the back seat of a bus driving across the country in the rain. It looked something like this. As I’ve painted this in oil over the last three months it’s been a slow process of letting go of the fact that the Glory I saw will never be replicated. No matter how many times I’ve tried to paint this scene or how many times I do in the future, it will never quite compare. I had to start to see the explosion of color, my smallness, the garden, the angels, in a relative way. I had to find some way to satisfactorily convey how dancing in the presence of a Great Light in a garden made me feel. It felt like painting a secret. It felt like Glory.
